E.ON Energy from Waste combines and concentrates all activities in the area of waste incineration within the E.ON Group. We develop, construct and operate waste incineration plants which convert energy contained in the waste into power, steam and district heating on a high ecological and technological standard.
By 2010 we will operate 18 waste incineration plants in Europe with a total annual capacity of approx. 4.5 million tons.
At present, our plants produce approx. 2,100 gigawatt-hours of power and approx. 2,800 gigawatt-hours of heat.
Energy generation from waste incineration saves fossil energy sources such as coal, oil and gas. This is our contribution to active conservation of resources and protection of the climate.

Stadtreinigung is Hamburg’s largest and leading service provider in the area of waste management. As a full service partner with public, commercial and private orders, it provides waste and recyclable material disposal as well as cleaning services from a single source, with a workforce of about 2,400. As a public sector waste disposal authority and certified waste management company, Stadtreinigung collects, transports, stores and treats waste from approx. 960,000 households and 100,000 commercial operations.
Stadtreinigung Hamburg (SRH) cleans 3,700 kilometres of lanes of traffic and 3,100 kilometres of pavement each week and, during its winter service, ensures that road traffic is safe and can flow smoothly in an economic hub populated by approx. 1.77 million inhabitants. The fact that Stadtreinigung is decentralised into five regional operational units guarantees a customer-oriented service.

The goal is the thermal utilization of alternative fuels such as waste, biomass and bio solids on low cost while promoting environmentally sustainable manner. In Hamburg Vattenfall Europe New Energy is using high energy content of substantial not recyclable waste. On this way the local plants Müllverwertungsanlagen Borsigstraße (MVB) and Rugenberger Damm (MVR) as well as the VERA Klärschlammverbrennung are reducing the consumption of fossil fuels. The Vattenfall Europe New Energy plants generate heating and electricity, produces usable materials and tries to avoid waste far as possible.

Hanseatisches Schlackenkontor GmbH (HSK GmbH) assists Hanseatisches Schlackenkontor ARGE Vertrieb (HSK ARGE Vertrieb) and its dealers with marketing and sales. It guarantees take-back of MV bottom ash from removal measures and has the task of developing new building material products on the basis of bottom ash from incineration of municipal waste (MV bottom ash, brand name emvau-schlacke) and expanding the range of applications of this building material.
